Health care and education are key to improving lives in Katembe, Mozambique. We help vulnerable children and young people access these essentials every day.
Our health and education-focussed projects are successfully improving the lives and futures of young people, enabling them to reach their full potential and support their families and the wider community.
The Mission Mozambique team has been working to improve the lives of vulnerable children and young people since 2016. We’ve achieved a lot in that time.
Mission Mozambique was created in 2016 initially to raise funds to prevent the closure of a children’s home in Katembe. Many of the 25 resident children had lived in the home since birth or early childhood having been lost, abandoned or orphaned predominantly due to the impact of HIV.
Fast forward four years and the houses had been refurbished, power and water had been re-installed and the resident children numbered 52.
All of the children were in good health and attending school, having regained hope for their future.
In January 2020 MiMo handed over the management and financial support of the Home to the Government whilst continuing to fund the education and health of the resident children and those who had been re-integrated with extended family.
Re-locating to a new office in Katembe, MiMo commenced new projects working with children and young people in the community as well as supporting previous residents of the Home.
MiMo’s work focuses on health and education – it is our mission to enable children to improve their lives and the lives of their families and communities through learning.
We need your help to continue our vital work helping the children and young people of Katembe. Your donations have a direct impact – funding our important projects and team on the ground in Mozambique.
“Our work in Mozambique has had an incredible impact. Every donation helps us continue our vital projects, which enable children and young people to improve their own lives and the lives of their families through health and learning”
